FAQ

Got Questions?

These are some of the questions I often get as a photographer/videographer.

Let me know if you have any others!

How soon should I book?

Typically it's best to schedule your shoot at least 2 weeks in advance, but you're always welcome to reach out and check for my availability.

Will there be a second shooter?

For large scale events I'll often hire a second shooter to help maximize coverage. But it varies by event.

What kind of editing do you do?

For all my work I'll do standard exposure and contrast edits to ensure top quality. For portraits, I will remove blemishes and sometimes smooth out skin.

Can we take pictures, too?

Of course! I encourage all of my clients to take behind the scenes shots on their phones. It's a great way to build excitement for your shoot!

Do you travel?

Yes! I love to travel and will happily provide coverage domestic or abroad. One hour of travel is included, and it's $1/mile after that + lodging/air if needed.

Can we choose our video's music?

Definitely. Most of my clients trust me to choose good music, but you're welcome to choose, too. Just gotta make sure we avoid copyright infringement.

What is your style?

My style is an enhanced true-to-life, which is a timeless and classy look suitable for all occasions.

What does it mean to be a hybrid?

Hybrid means I shoot both photo and video. With high end gear I can do this seamlessly, but for bigger events I'll have a member of my team help out.

Do I have to order prints through you?

No. With the files you get, you can typically print up to 8x10. But for larger formats, and for best quality I recommend ordering through my gallery.

What's your turnaround time?

For most portraits, it'll be 4-8 weeks for full edits. For events, typically 2-4 weeks. This can vary depending on the time of year and workload. Often it's faster!

What equipment do you use?

I use full frame Nikon cameras (DSLR and mirrorless), a Mavic drone, professional lenses, and all sorts of tools and accessories to help me get great shots.

Can we get RAW files?

For work-for-hire jobs, this can be negotiated. But for most work, no. It is not representative of my work and most consumers can't even open them.

How many photos do we get?

It depends on your package. For headshots, you get 4 edits. For all other shoots, I typically just remove repeats/blurry shots, and you get the rest!

How will you use our photos?

I'll often use shots from jobs to promote and advertise online and in print. For sensitive subjects like boudoir, we can keep things private upon request.

Do you use a contract?

Always. It covers all the basics and ensures we're both protected and on the same page. It also outlines payment information and timelines.

What if we need to cancel?

All balances already paid are nonrefundable. But I understand things happen, so you can use that balance to go towards a future shoot if needed.

Do we need to tip?

It's not expected, but always appreciated! For photography and videography 10% is typical and is a great way to show your photographer you appreciate their work.

Do you do trade, or "TF" shoots?

Yes! If you've got a great concept that would benefit both our portfolios, I'm open to collaborations! It mostly depends on my availabilty/workload.

How do you deliver files?

Photos are typically delivered as JPEGS via a Pixieset gallery. Video is usually 1080p/30fps delivered via Google Drive or WeTransfer, as well as a USB drive.

What's it like working with you?

It's a fun time! I have a calm demeanor and a methodical approach to my work, but I also enjoy being silly, while keeping it professional. And I take LOTS of selfies.

Do you have any discounts?

Yeah! I offer 10% off for educators and military upon request. And I'll often run promos throughout the year so look out for those on social media!

Do I have to credit you?

It's not required, but tagging/adding as collaborator is always appreciated. For trade shoots, it is required, and the images will have a small watermark.

Do you use a shot list?

For commercial projects, I'll create a shot list similar to a storyboard to help guide our shoot. For most others it's not needed, but you can always make requests!

Why do you have multiple websites?

My other site, Daryll Morgan Photography & Video Artistry is focused on weddings, which is very niche. This site however is tailored towards portraits and events.

Got other questions?

Feel free to reach out and ask away! I'm an open book and am happy to work with you on your unique needs and budget. This FAQ doesn't cover everything, and some things can change depending on the context of the situation. The important thing is to communicate and set expectations accordingly.
